When recently going through the drive-through at Starbucks, I was greeted by the barista with a “what’s up with people today, why is everyone being so rude?” Please allow me to explain – due to my frequent stops at Starbucks they know me by name and drink of choice. So the lively banter with the barista was not atypical and together we shared our holiday observations.

Like everyone with a heart, the devastation of Sandy has impacted me and reawakened those feelings of helplessness. Helpless to the effects of Mother Nature (aided by global warming), helpless in providing shelter, electricity, food, and comfort. Helpless to everyone impacted in their moments of insurmountable grief.

Yes, we’ve all had that feeling of being rushed along, haven’t we? Those people who tailgate (and I don’t mean the football gatherings), those who race through doors letting them slam in your face, those who sigh with exasperation behind you in line at the market, gas pump, etc. Aaargh!!!!
