I once had a person ask me what I was “on” because I was so happy. I have been called Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm, Susie Sunshine (I guess they were happy, too) and I have certainly been told my head is in the clouds and my feet aren’t on the ground. Many metaphors for my needing a reality check according to some.

Kindness movements seem to be quite popular now – have you noticed? Random Acts of Kindness (@RAKFoundation or leads the pack here in the U.S. In fact next week, February 13th -19th is Random Acts of Kindness week. They offer oodles of resources so check them out if you’re planning to bump up the love!

And I also admire the kindness initiative in Singapore ( where they have Singa the lion cub as their mascot and even conduct kindness ambushes that recognize behaviors that deserve to be rewarded! The entire country of Singapore is on notice with their kindness festivities. Kindness is a highly encouraged on-going lifestyle and is truly celebrated. Singapore continues to target the children with their “Get It Write with Kindness” contest and “Sow a Good Seed, Reap a Good Deed” project. And what better place to start than with the children?

Oops, I did it again!

I did it again…received something (this time a great cup of hot chocolate prepared by my husband) without saying thank you! And I teach etiquette! I caught myself taking that first delectable sip (a special blend of hot chocolate from Christopher Elbow Chocolates - @elbowchocolates) thinking, hmmm did I say thanks?

Micro-inequities – the not so little things!

In today’s frenetic world in which we live, how often do we go about the day without being as mindful of the little things? The little things that include what we say (or don’t), tone of voice (or empty uh-huh moments), behaviors that imply we are too busy to make eye contact as we grunt a response...! Yes, I could go on and on as I’m thinking of myself right now – hmmm, did I unintentionally cause someone to feel ignored or unimportant today?
